Lonely

by admin

I spent two semesters abroad as an undergraduate student. The first semester was in London and the second was in Cairo.

You would think that England, with the comforts of home and common language, would have been by far the easier experience, but it wasn’t. I was ready to go home by the middle of week two. I had never in my whole life been so lonely as I was in England. The sites that I had dreamed of seeing, the “shrines” of my heros’ lives, seemed so empty without my family and friends.

Egypt was completely different. The director of our study program in Cairo worked hard to give us the one thing I lacked in London–a community. Cliff and his family made Cairo a second home for us by opening his home and helping us build genuine community.

At HIS International, students not only find lunches, forums, classes, or help–they find community.

Welcome to our family.
